Paparazzi photographer, Robert Barbera, is suing pop star Ariana Grande for posting photos he took of her to her Instagram account. On Monday, Barbera announced his lawsuit against photos she posted from August 17th.
The photos showcase her exiting a New York City building carrying a bag that read “Sweetener.” The Instagram post that racked up over 3.3 million likes online was shown as evidence in court.
According to the lawsuit, Barbera claims that Grande “infringed” on his copyright by publicly displaying them on Instagram without licensing them. And, Barbera is suing for $25,000 for each photo posted—which comes out to a total of $50,000.
No one from Grande’s press team has issued any statements at this time.
