Season 8 of Game of Thrones is getting down to the nitty-gritty end and, I’m waiting on some brutal deaths to take place. Let’s face it, the writers aren’t going to leave us with a happy ending and will most likely knock off some major characters before Episode 6 ends.
Recently, fans have been going buck wild with theories on who is going to die and how they’re going todie. With Jaime heading back to King’s Landing to “be with” Cersei, some think that he’s going there to kill his twin-sister. Others think that Daenerys is turning more and more into her father every day and now, no one is safe.
The latest theory comes from ComicBook.com and has to do with our boy, Jon Snow.
The theory discusses the symbolism that has taken place throughout the series—every character’s fate somehow ties to their “spirit animal.” Not only did the Starks’ fate tie directly to their direwolves, but it also has to do with Daenerys and her growth with her dragonbabies.
If you look back on the series and think about characters and their spirit animals, after an animal was murdered or died, the character—soon after—died, too. Both Robb and Rickon Stark were killed by the same people who killed their direwolves—almost around the same time in the show.
Now, fans are thinking that Jon Snow, AKA Aegon Targaryen, is about to die thanks to a few factors that happened in Episode 4 of Game of Thrones.
In Episode 4, two animals associated with Jon Snow said goodbye to fans. First, there’s Ghost. During the episode, Jon sent Ghost away to live with Tormund and the wildings in the “true North.” And, while that’s not necessarily a death—Jon is saying goodbye to Ghost (most likely for good).
Then, you have the death of Rhaegal. Rhaegal, while not Jon’s “child,” was named after Jon’s father/Dany’ brother, Rhaegar. Additionally, Rhaegal became Jon’s designated dragon after he hopped on him and rode him in Episode 1 of the season. To add to this, Rhaegal was Jon’s personal dragon during the Battle of Winterfell. In Episode 4, Rhaegal is shot out of the sky and killed by Euron Greyjoy.
If the theory holds true, it could mean that Jon Snow has to face his fate within the next two episodes. It’s not farfetched to think that Euron would try and kill Jon if he were to find out that he is the true heir to the Iron Throne. While Cersei may want to take down Daenerys, now that Tyrion knows his true identity (and Varys for that matter), the word may get out. And, if everyone knows Jon is a true Targaryen—it’s only a matter of time before he gets the X.
