As if emojis haven’t taken over our lives and communication as it is, apparently, they have their own holiday. Tuesday marks the global “World Emoji Day” and to celebrate, Apple has announced that iPhone users will be getting brand new emojis.
The last time Apple and the emoji company Unicode Consortium released new emojis was October 2017, so it’s pretty much long overdue to bring us some new friends to play around with. In total, there are over 70 emojis coming to an iPhone near you. Some of the emojis being released later this year are ones that users have been anxiously waiting on–like, the redhead emoji. There are also some pretty dope ones dropping that you’ll be using in your group chat ASAP. Apple released some sneak peaks at the emojis coming to our phones, and Emojipedia–the website known as the dictionary of emojis–released some other images Apple has planned for release.
