ICYMI–this summer has been pretty live for rap music and rap beef. Between all these little “SoundCloud” rappers popping off to each other every other day, the big guns in the industry also had a few harsh words for each other.
For those who may have missed it, allow me to catch you up.
Pusha T dropped his new album in May–DAYTONA–which included a song called “Infrared” that happened to call rapper Drake out for having “ghostwriters” on his tracks. The album was produced by Kanye West out of his GOOD Music studio in Wyoming.

Drake was quick to clap back with a pretty savage track called “Duppy Freestyle.” The track takes jabs at both Pusha T and Kanye West. Drake calls out Kanye for claiming he doesn’t use ghostwriters when he and Future came to the studio to write “Father Stretch My Hands” for him on his last album, “The Life of Pablo.” He also calls out Pusha T for using Jay-Z and Kanye as ghostwriters on DAYTONA, and, for acting as though he’s the highest “drug dealing rapper” in the game.
Fans were claiming that Pusha T was over since Drake served him a savage beating, but–before we knew it–Pusha T had the entire Internet in shambles when he dropped another diss track for Drake.
The track which is called “The Story of Adidon” featured a photo of a teenage Drake dressed in blackface on the cover. Without even listening to the song, it’s a direct hit at Drake–who is biracial. Reports indicated that Drake was dressed in blackface in high school for a project about slavery in America and minstrel shows–but, people were obviously still offended by the photo.
Please stop referring to this picture as “artwork”…I’m not an internet baby, I don’t edit images…this is a REAL picture…these are his truths, see for yourself https://t.co/gd6vRS3HM8 pic.twitter.com/2el58HEZ8F

As well, Pusha called out Drake’s father for leaving when he was only 5-years-old–saying:
“Marriage is something Sandi never had…”
This, of course, refers to Drake’s mother–Sandi Graham.
Pusha T also took a jab at one of Drake’s closest friends–Noah “40” Shebib–who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years ago. He came back directly at 40 for Drake’s decision to come at Kanye West, saying:
“OVO 40, hunched over like he 80, tick, tick, tick,
How much time he got? That man is sick, sick, sick”
People were outraged seeing as May 30th is World MS Day.

But, Pusha dropped a bomb on fans that Drake, himself, is a deadbeat dad. Drake had dropped Virginia Williams’ name (Pusha T’s fiancé) in Duppy Freestyle, and Pusha was not having it. He aired Drake’s dirty laundry saying he had a baby with a pornstar/bottle service waitress:
Sophie knows better, ask your baby mother,
Cleaned her up for IG, but the stench is on her,
A baby’s involved, it’s deeper than rap.
We talkin’ character, let me keep with the facts,
You are hiding a child, let that boy come home,
Deadbeat m*therf**ker playing border patrol.
Adonis is your son,
And he deserves more than an Adidas press run.
Love that baby, respect that girl,
Forget she’s a porn star, let her be your world.
The woman that Pusha is referring to is a pornstar and bottle service waitress–Sophie Brussaux– that allegedly was pregnant with Drake’s baby.
In 2017, Sophia even tweeted:
Since the diss track dropped, fans have been wilding out on Twitter–shocked and appalled at the information leaked in the song.

Drake stayed rather quiet for a pretty long time in terms of the “baby daddy” rumors, and fans were pissed off that he didn’t immediately drop a track to clap-back. He did, however, round up the Degrassi cast for his music video for “I’m Upset,” and got right back on fan’s good side again.
The nostalgia jumped out. I'm emotional. Kris Jenner works hard but Drake works harder. This man is so strategic. #ImUpset #Degrassi pic.twitter.com/NgPSxYeqET

However, a lot of fans were still wondering when Drake was going to address the rumors that he had a child with an adult film star. Although the Degrassi reunion was a beautiful touch, we wanted answers and we wanted them now. Turns out, Kris Jenner works hard, but Drake does work harder. This week, Drake dropped his heavily anticipated album, Scorpion, and on it, he addressed all of those rumors that he had a secret child.

On several of the songs from the double album, Drake confirms that he did have a kid and he wasn’t hiding him from the world, but hiding the world from him. In the song “Emotionless,” Drake raps:
I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world/I was hiding the world from my kid.”
“Breakin’ news in my life I don’t run to the blogs/The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call.”
On another song, “March 14,” Drake flat-out says that “the kid is mine:”
“Yesterday mornin’ was crazy/I had to come to terms with the fact that it’s not a maybe/That shit is in stone/Sealed and signed/She’s not my lover like Billie Jean/But the kid is mine/Sadie used to tell me all it takes is one time/And all it took was one time/Shit, we only met two times, two times/And both times were nothin’ like the new times/Now it’s rough times/I’m out here on front lines/Just tryna make sure that I see him sometimes.”
He also raps about how he wanted to avoid a co-parenting situation because he had been through it himself as a child.
“I used to challenge my parents on every album/ Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent/ Always promised the family unit/ I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”
Additionally, sources confirmed that Drake has b een financially supporting his son and baby momma since he found out she was pregnant. After he was born, a DNA proved that he was indeed the father. Drake also shouts out Pusha T, Kanye West, and the other rappers who have been stirring the pot about his music with his “Editor’s Note” on Apple Music, where he dropped his album for streaming.
He wrote, making fun of everyone else who doubts him:
“HATE WHEN DRAKE RAPS, DRAKE SINGS TOO MUCH, DRAKE IS A POP ARTIST, DRAKE DOESN’T EVEN WRITE HIS OWN SONGS, DRAKE TOOK AN L, DRAKE DIDN’T START FROM THE BOTTOM, DRAKE IS FINISHED, I LIKE DRAKE’S OLDER STUFF, DRAKE MAKES MUSIC FOR GIRLS, DRAKE THINKS HE’S JAMAICAN, DRAKE IS AN ACTOR, DRAKE CHANGED. ANYBODY ELSE > DRAKE …YEAH YEAH WE KNOW.”
People on Twitter were shook since he dropped the album and confirmed that the alleged son was actually his child.

But, some fans thought it was grimey that Drake waited until Pusha called him out to acknowledge his kid at all.
Pusha T called out Drake for hiding a child and now Drake is Chance the Rappering this Dad thing. I’m sick.

For everyone praising Drake for his “I wasn’t hiding my son from the world. I was hiding the world from my son.” line you do realize it is the epitome of a deadbeat dad explanation on why he hasn’t acknowledged his kid, right?

Adonis made Drake a dad
Push made Drake a father
— JUS7IN (@NotTheWisestGuy) June 29, 2018
So wait is Drake just gonna be an active parent now? Like Pusha exposes him and he’s just like ‘welp I guess I gotta be a dad now’ lol how does that work? What if Push didn’t even go there? He’d still just not publicly acknowledge his kid?
