There’s nothing quite like winding down your day with a glass of wine to relax–am I right?
While some enjoy warm tea or hot milk right before bed, I believe a nice glass of wine to take the edge off is the right way to go. As it turns out, I’m not an alcoholic, but actually, a genius because not only does wine help me ease into a nice, long, deep sleep–but it helps me shed my extra french fries pounds too.
According to a 2015 study from Washington State University, having a glass of red wine before bed can help your body fight off “bad fat” while you sleep–go figure. The study indicates that resveratrol, which is found in red wine, helps convert “white fat” to “beige fat,” which, is easier to burn off.
Studies say that drinking a glass of wine before bed also helped people avoid snacking on unhealthy foods–which don’t burn off while you’re sleeping (you know how they say never eat past 9 P.M.).
But, doctors warn people that just because red wine can make it easier to lose weight, drinking alcohol in excess can have negative effects on the body. Instead, it is possible to get resveratrol without drinking wine–like, by incorporating blueberries, strawberries, and grapes into your everyday diet.
But, if you are the type to grab a glass of wine before bed and feel a bit guilty about it–take pride in the fact that you’re helping yourself reach your ideal body. And, I’ll drink to that!
