7 Obnoxious Things People Say To Single Women On A Daily Basis

Thanks to society’s widely-accepted belief that single women should be pitied since they’re obviously desperate for a man and sad without one, people tend to say awful things to those of us who are rolling solo. No, it’s not usually done to hurt single women – it often comes from a good place, but it ends up having the opposite effect. It’s time to nip this in the bud by addressing the biggest offenders and why they’re so terrible. Next time a woman tells you she’s single, avoid saying any of these obnoxious things.

1. “IT’LL HAPPEN WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.”

People love throwing this one out there, but finding love isn’t an exact science. Whether someone is constantly look for it or given up completely doesn’t really matter. Many other things come into play when it comes to finding someone you connect with, and this is not helpful.

2. “YOU’RE TOO PICKY.”

So basically, you’re saying we should settle just to be in a relationship? I think you’re overestimating being single. It’s actually not that bad and certainly not worse than dating a jerk or being in a dead-end relationship.

3. “HOW COULD YOU BE SINGLE? YOU’RE SUCH A GOOD CATCH.”

Yeah, we are, but that’s not the problem. The problem is finding someone who is a catch in our eyes, as well, so don’t put that on us. Also, this question is basically fishing for what’s wrong with us, which we shouldn’t give unless you decide to dish your issues, as well.

4. “YOU HAVE TO GET OUT THERE FOR THE BOUQUET TOSS.”

We already came to your wedding, why put us through more torture by pretending we need to catch flowers midair to hopefully find “The One”? Please just leave us by the open bar. Thanks!

5. “HAVE YOU TRIED ONLINE DATING?”

What? You mean in the 21st century there is such a thing as online dating? We never knew! Actually we did and tried it only to get asked by many gross guys for naked pictures. It’s pretty safe to say that none of them are Prince Charming.

6. “WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE, I WAS MARRIED WITH KIDS.”

Do you realize how different things were back then? People have more options now, and we have other goals we want to accomplish before jumping onto the marriage track. There’s really no comparison.

7. “YOU KNOW, YOUR BIOLOGICAL CLOCK IS TICKING.”

Oh, we must have forgot about that. Thank you for assuming we want biological kids in the first place or ignoring all the options of how we could have them to try to make us feel bad about ourselves.
