Selena Gomez’ Mom Is Publicly Blasting Her For Working With Woody Allen

Selena Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, has not been happy with her celebrity daughter lately and she isn’t afraid to talk about it. She was reportedly so upset at Jelena being a thing again that she briefly cut off ties. Then on Tuesday, she publicly outed Selena on Instagram for appearing in an upcoming Woody Allen movie.

The reason I wake up every morning. She's the reason I am who I am. Every part of me is her. I love you momma. I'm proud to be your daughter.

Teefey put her daughter on blast after fans began criticizing Gomez for continuing to work with Allen despite his well-known status as a misogynist, sexual abuser, and pedophile on the film A Rainy Day in New York. Her silence is even more blatant alongside her costar Timothée Chalamet’s response; On Monday night he announced that he will donate his earnings from the film to TIME’S UP, RAINN, and the LGBT Center in New York.

When Teefey posted a photo on Instagram last Monday, fans began commenting on it to ask her whether Gomez would take a stand as well. Teefey responded in the comments section, writing that she had advised her to not star in the film but ultimately “no one controls her.”

Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.

Naturally, fans lost their minds. Journalist Joshua Fox tweeted the exchange, writing Teefey “threw her under the bus.”
