The couple opened up about their relationship in an interview last month for the first time ever, when Harry told the BBC that his late mother, Princess Diana, would have been “over the moon” about the their engagement.
Harry and Meghan first met on a blind date last summer, which was brokered by an anonymous mutual friend. “It was definitely a setup,” Markle said in an interview. A second date was followed by a camping trip to Botswana, as is tradition for second dates around the globe. “Then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me,” revealed Harry.
Although the two were doing a long-distance relationship, “We were able to really have so much time just to connect,” said Markle, “and we never went longer than two weeks without seeing each other…We made it work.”
Harry proposed on a “cozy night” in early November at Nottingham Cottage in the midst of cooking a chicken. “It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee,” she said. “As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now?'”
“We’re a fantastic team and we know we are, and we hope over time to try have as much impact for all the things we care about as much as possible.” The two said the “stars were aligned,” and, uh, yeah same.
