Carrie Fisher’s Dog Recognized Her In ‘The Last Jedi’ And I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying

Ok, get ready to bawl your eyeballs out: We have definitive proof that Carrie Fisher’s bulldog misses her as much as we do. According to reporter Veronica Miracle, Gary watched The Last Jedi and had the most adorable reaction: Every time his mom appeared onscreen, his ears perked up.

“The late Carrie Fisher’s dog Gary just watched ‘The Last Jedi’! He sat on Fisher’s former assistant’s lap during the film. She said his ears perked up every time she was on screen,” reads Miracle’s tweet.

Gary and Fisher were the closest of buds. The pup was always by the actor’s side prior to her death last December and was a fixture on set and at film premieres. He was so beloved that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson made him a space creature in the film.

Gary, who went to Fisher’s assistant Corby McCoin after her death, has over 160,000 followers on his Instagram page, which is still up and running. McCoin continues to take the bulldog to public events so that fans can meet him and connect with Fisher in some way now that she is physically gone.

Gary was more than a pet to Fisher. The actor revealed in a 2013 interview with The Herald Tribune that Gary was her therapy dog. “Gary is mental also,” she said. “My mother says Gary is a hooligan. Gary is like my heart. Gary is very devoted to me and that calms me down. He’s anxious when he’s away from me.”

Great. If you need me I’ll be over here sobbing and watching this GIF for eternity:
