Whether you are sheltering at home alone, with a partner, or with a family, there are unique challenges to being stuck inside for most of the day. Folks who are alone say they are craving social connection and touch. Those with a partner are either enjoying more time together or finding their spaces being cramped. And those with kids are just trying to hold it together. It’s no different for celebrities, although they are more likely to be able to escape the person they are bickering with by simply sprinting off to the other wing.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, who have always been gloriously upfront about the struggles of married life, are quarantining with their two daughters. And according to a new interview, they are “at each other’s throats.”
The couple spoke with Katie Couric this week on Instagram Live, providing a glimpse into their quarantine life.
“We’ve been at each other’s throats real bad, real bad,” Bell said somewhat playfully. She also explained that the interview was “as physically close as we’ve been in a couple of days ’cause we’ve just found each other revolting.”
Shephard was self-quarantining separately from his family for two weeks because he had been traveling, and Bell didn’t want him to reenter the home until he had been cleared. They did cute stuff to cheer him up, like sing and dance, which Bell shared on social media.
“America’s sweetheart has some character defects,” Shepard said before he left Bell to continue the interview by herself.
Bell took that moment of “alone time” as an opportunity to bemoan her situation.
“He’s too big, Katie. He’s too loud and too big. He’s everywhere,” Bell said.
Look, we’re all a little cramped right now. It’s okay to admit that sometimes that’s less than ideal. But honestly, if there’s one celebrity couple that can make it through coronavirus intact, it’s Kristen and Dax.
