Kanye West really stays stirring the pot when it comes to social media and outrage.
After the controversy of his profession of love for Donald Trump, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, and claiming that “slavery was a choice,” things seemed quiet for West–who has been in Wyoming working on several albums with his record label GOOD Music. On Friday, Pusha T’s new album “DAYTONA” dropped–produced by Kanye West himself.

The cover art for the album was also released by West and Pusha T on social media. The photo–which Kanye West paid $85,000 for–is a photo of Whitney Houston’s bathroom filled with illegal drugs. The photo was taken without permission and sold to the media–and West spent the huge sum to use it for the DAYTONA cover.

Many people online and in the media are angry and outraged that the rappers would use this as an album cover–seeing as Houston passed in a bathroom after complications with cocaine. Her daughter, as well, passed in a bathroom as well. Both women suffered from drug addictions. West–who also recently opened up about his opioid addiction problems–clearly is being a hypocrite by using someone else’s struggle with addiction to sell records.
According to BET, Houston’s family is disgusted that West would exploit their family members in such a way. Twitter shares in the disgust.
Kanye West claims 2 have been suffering from opiate addiction himself. Instead of exploiting Whitney Houston’s struggles 4 his own personal gain, why doesn’t he post a picture of his own drug stash? What he’s doing isn’t “edgy” or “artsy”; it’s exploitative, wrong & disrespectful

Black women can't even get respect in fucking death. Kanye can keep rowing his boat to hell for this Whitney picture.

Kanye doesn’t care about black women or black culture. If we keepin it a bean. Someone who did would never do something like that to Queen Whitney.

How is this genius? This is disrespectful on numerous levels both to Whitney, god rest her soul, Bobbi Kristina, and Bobby Brown and Whitney’s Family. I thought about buying the album before this but unless Kanye changes it (Which he won’t)They won’t get a penny. @DishNation 😒

After Amy died, white media/public came together to erase the media spectacle surrounding her final days from our minds. I am glad they did. Push t and mad man kanye decided to make a spectacle of Whitney’s pain and suffering. Shame on both of them.

if kanye west doesn’t have a problem with buying a photo of whitney houston’s bathroom , then he should keep the same energy if someone ever released a pic / video of him taking opioids 🧐 #KanyeWest #daytona

some of yall missed the point on how kanye using the photo of whitney’s bathroom is disrespectful. it doesnt matter if it was taken before she died – it was taken when she was suffering n in an incredibly dark place. using something like that is so insensitive stop being ignorant

Why disrespect a legend for some artwork? Why exploit someone else's struggle with drugs when you have your own? These, & other questions, in my @theGrio piece about Kanye West's latest mess: Whitney Houston's supposed drug paraphernalia as album art. https://t.co/8NkdQjwvDC
