Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the death of the Internet’s favorite gorilla, Harambe.
A year ago, the 17-year-old gorilla was shot and killed after a 3-year-old boy had fallen into the gorilla pit at the Cincinnati Zoo. Although millions claim that the gorilla was doing no harm to the young boy, the zookeepers chose to protect the child over the life of the innocent gorilla, and he was killed.
After the incident, hundreds and thousands of people were up in arms over the loss of the this adorable primate.
On the one year anniversary of the death of the Internet’s best friend, of course, everyone mourned him with – memes.

One year ago today, Harambe was taken from us, and his only crime was being an aggressive babysitter who took a child swimming. pic.twitter.com/NVnUKRMZNF
