7 Holiday Dates For The Couple Who’s Broke AF

The holiday season is the perfect time of the year to not only continue on with family traditions but to make memories with that special someone in your life. There is a lot more to the holiday season than just buying gifts. This is especially difficult when you are the couple that is broke as AF and barely able to afford rent and dinner (trust me, it’s a lot more people than you’d think). Instead of focusing on gifts this holiday season focus on cute (and inexpensive) dates that can turn into traditions and memories of their own. PSA: kissing under the mistletoe is highly recommended and encouraged as well.

1. Spend a night in baking holiday cookies together.

Bottles of wine are also highly encouraged for this date, too. This is not only a tasty date but one that gives you plenty of time to just talk and be yourself in the kitchen. It is a way to just open up yourself to your significant other because what else could you possibly be doing waiting for those cookies to bake. (I mean I guess there are a few things you could be doing in the kitchen mid cookie baking…).

2. Gingerbread house decorating contest.

Since things are already heating up in the kitchen, have a gingerbread house decorating contest night. Battle it out to see which partner is a better decorator. You can send photos of the finish products to your family and friends to have them judge or use social media platforms to set up a poll for judging. It seems cheesy, but it can be a lot of fun, especially if you add some booze to the mix.

3. Go ice skating together.

This is a great date if you are looking to actually go somewhere and do something a bit more adventurous than baking cookies. Depending on your area that are some places that will allow you to skate for free, and others that require a small fee. If you have your own skates, it saves even more money.
